MakieLab named as Europas finalist
London-based producer of Makies shortlisted for ‘Best Gaming or Social Games Startup’ at European tech “Oscars”

LONDON — 10 JANUARY, 2013 — From a starting pool of over 1000 European companies, MakieLab has been selected as one of ten finalists in the ‘Best Gaming or Social Games Startup’ category at the Europas awards, to be held in Berlin on 21st January.

MakieLab is a 3D-printed toys and games startup, and its first product, Makies™, allows users to create, customise and order a unique 3D-printed poseable doll at makie.me. Since alpha launch in May of last year, Makies has been showcased at a variety of events including WIRED 2012, Future London, The Wired Pop-Up Store, and has been featured on CNN, CNBC, Sky News, The BBC, Reuters and the Financial Times.

The Europas will kick off an exciting 2013 for the company, with an app release planned for early February, a mobile game tracking for early summer, and further expansion of Makies toys, customisation options, and accessories throughout the year. MakieLab’s second product is already in development with partners.
